Filming Issues...

We have struck some technical difficulties. With some of our footage we have found the surroundings to be to dark and hard to see the actor compared to the other shots. We were shooting to late and we will be shooting our footage again soon to keep with Mis-En-Scene.

Shooting Time...

Shooting -
On the 23rd of January we shot the first part of our opening, however we bumped into a few problems, as we are at school all day and rely on our actors, it was a huge problem when it got to about 5 and it was to dark to film. We only had time to capture three different shots that we could actually use properly in our production. Furthermore we will need to download or get our music to fit in with our production. We will need to do this sooner rather than later and also find a solution to the darkness and filming times.
We will also need to reschedule to a different day as one of our actors is un-able to attend to one of the dates. It shouldn't be a huge problem but with that in mind it will leave us less time to record more shots and less time to edit it all together. 

Final Decision On Fonts...

After looking through all the fonts we decided on this text as it looks the most suited to our production, is a little hard to read but fits in with the theme of horror and finally looked the best on the screen when we tested it on "iMovie" on the apple mac.

First of all we went onto word and checked out many fonts that we could possibly use for the titles during our production.

Shooting Dates...

We have decided that we will be shooting our production on the 23rd January 2012 and the 24th January 2012. We will be shooting with both our actors at Blaise Castle Woods. We will be shooting in order of our camera shots on our Story Boards. Or we will be doing the main intense scene's first as they will be the hardest to shoot so the sooner we get the hard camera shots it makes the rest of the shooting easier and less stressful.

Planing For "Film Opening"...

Location -
Initial Idea's: Wooden Shack inside and outside. Then The Woods for running/chase scene.


Final Idea: Shirehampton Golf Course in the woods OR Blaise Castle through the woods. The Cabin in Blaise Castle.








Actors -
First of all our main actor will be a young girl at the age of 16/18. We thought that she would either have blonde or brunette hair at shoulder length. We thought that if she had green or blue eyes we could emphasise her eye colour in the camera shots. However we realised this was being very picky,as we could emphasise any eye colour! We said it didn't really matter what build she was, however for our story line we thought it would be better if she was normal build or slim to make it seem more realistic to the audience. She will be playing the victim in the opening scene.

Our other actor, who is the second main role in our film opening, will be a mid 20 year old man. We have a basic idea of how we want him to look; as you wont be seeing his face or any specific details about this character, it doesn't matter how he looks. We would hope for a man who is; average height, slim or average build and generally strong enough to carry a girl away for one of the scene's. He will be playing the murderer/torturer in the opening scene.


Mise-En-Scene -
Keeping with Mise-En-Scene will be a huge part of our production as we don't want things to be changed or different, looking back on other shots. For example in our opening, the characters will have to wear the same clothes in all the scene's unless you physically see them changing. Minor details like mud smears, cuts and bruises will have to be in the same place and look the same in all the shots, this is where keeping with mis-en-scene will be tricky as we'll have to remember where all the details were on our actress. The girl in our production will be wearing a torn, dirty, blood smeared white top. With muddy, possibly ripped jeans, we also debated weather or not she would have a shoe missing or if she keeps her shoes to add to the drama of running away in terror. Her hair and makeup should also look the same in all shots as otherwise it could confuse the viewer or it will make the production look poor quality. The male in our production will be easy to keep with mis-en-scene for as; all we need for him is an outfit of a black hat so the viewer cant see his face. He will also have a black top with a leather jacket on top, with black or dark jeans and finally steel-cap boots or dirty casual trainers/shoes for running in. Finally to finish with mis-en-scene the props we use in the production will have to be same. For example; we cant have black rope in one shot then in the next shot have brown rope. So all the props will have to be the same colour and exactly the same product/object as in other shots.  


Characters -

Our main character in the production is the girl. Me and my partner in this production have decided that to make her character seem believable and relatable that we should give her certain aspects that make the scene seem real and dramatic. First of all we thought of how she should look. We decided that she should look as if she had been battered and abused. We will convey this with bruises around the wrists (burns) from a rope, ripped and dirty white t-shirt with blobs of blood and smudges of mud to emphasise how she has been mistreated, jeans that are torn and dirty along with her top, we haven't decided weather or not she will have shoes on, she will either have no shoes, one shoe on and one shoe off or no shoes at all. We also decided how the girl would have smeared make-up and running mascara on her face to interpret to the viewer that she has been upset or crying. Her hair would be messy with leaves in as she's been running away from this mysterious torturer. She could also have tears running down her face as she's running away, from crying or the wind going in her eyes from running away to show how scared she is. 

Secondly our other character the "mysterious torturer"will have his face covered for the whole opening as we want to withdraw information from the viewer. We thought that he could have a beanie hat on with a few holes cut out so you can only see his eyes and maybe nose. This character would have dirty or blood stained hands due to the activity that will be shown during the flashbacks with the girl. With his costume he will have black jeans which are mud smeared, a black long sleeve top, a big leather jacket and finally big steel-cap boots or dirty running trainers. Furthermore a few props will be shown with this character, for example in one of our scene's he will need to pick up some rope when we runs after the girl. 

Audience Research...

Audience Engagement - 
To get the audience engaged with the move opening we could use a popular or memorable song that when the audience think of the song they could relate it back to the film. Furthermore using well known actors could also get the audience more engaged to our film opening. Finally using different or memorable camera techniques should engage the audience as the camera shot should please and remind them of the film. 


Audience Expectations - 
The expectations of this movie opening should mainly be based around building tension as the theme "horror" is based around building suspense. Furthermore the movie opening should scare the audience or make them jump as once again the theme of "horror" suggests this to happen at some point. In addition to this, the audience could expect to feel uncomfortable or shocked by the viewings they're about to encounter with the film as any horror film can be unexpected. 


Audience Foreknowledge - 
The audience should know before what certificate the movie is and this should prepare them a little for what they see during the film. For example: If the certificate is an 18. The viewer can expect to see scene's of: sex, drugs, gore, harsh language and possibly uncomfortable scene's. Where-as if the certificate is 12, the viewer can expect scene's of: Some harsh language, light sex scene's and some mild violence. Finally as the viewer should know, the theme would be horror, so they should know that they should feel tension and scared during the film.


Audience Identification -
 If the audience likes the theme of horror then they should be able to relate to the tension and uncomfortable scene's or text. For Example: in the film "Paranormal Activity" using the message at the beginning of the film creates a dark and uncomfortable feeling that puts the viewer on edge however if they enjoy horror films then they should like the idea of making the viewer feel uncomfortable.
